Darlington Police

DARLINGTON - Marcos Mermudez-Sanchez, 22, and Karina Orizaba, 18, both of Darlington, were cited Wednesday, Aug. 15, for furnishing alcoholic beverages to a minor, following an investigation at a residence on River Street. Orizaba and a 13-year-old girl were also cited for underage drinking.

Monroe Police

MONROE - On Monday, Aug. 20:

- Bobby A. Marney, 32, Freeport, Ill., was arrested on a charge of driving a vehicle without the owner's consent after police responded to a report at 8:24 p.m. of an assault in the 300 block of 3rd Street. A woman told police she and Marney struggled during an argument before he slammed her to the ground and took off in her vehicle. She believed he was headed to his home in Freeport. Officers with the Freeport Police Department stopped the stolen vehicle and arrested Marney. He was jailed. The incident is still under investigation and more charges may be pending.

- A vehicle-egging was reported at 8:27 a.m. in the 2100 block of 16th Avenue.

- Police took down a handwritten sign on a telephone pole at 9:48 a.m. in the 1800 block of 12th Street. The sign offers, "I'll buy your house," but officers got no answer at the phone number provided and suspect it is a scam. This is not the first such sign police have removed in recent weeks. It is a violation of city code to affix signs on public property.

- Three children riding kick scooters in the street near the intersection of 11th Avenue and 26th Street were warned at 10:11 a.m. to stay on the sidewalk.

- A blue 18-speed mountain bike was found in the 2200 block of 8th Street and brought at 11:53 a.m. to the police station. To claim, call dispatch at (608) 329-2400.

- A kitten was found in the area of 6th 1/2 Avenue and 17th Street at 4:14 p.m. and turned over to the Green County Humane Society.

Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - On Monday, Aug. 20:

- Daniel C. Bernet, 71, Argyle, was arrested on charges of battery and domestic disorderly conduct after deputies responded at 10:43 p.m. to a report of a domestic dispute at a residence on Galena Street in Argyle. He was jailed.

- Stephanie A. Leahy, 30, Shullsburg, was cited for driving without proof of vehicle insurance at 5:49 p.m. on Wisconsin 11 in the Town of Benton.

- Justin R. Starr, 33, Rewey, was cited for driving without proof of vehicle insurance at 6:25 p.m. on Wis. 11 in the Town of Shullsburg.

- Criminal damage to a mailbox was reported at 10:50 a.m. at a residence on County K in the Town of Darlington.

- Criminal damage to a phone box was reported at 12:57 p.m. on County O in the Town of Belmont.
