MONROE - On Wednesday, Aug. 14:
- A female in the 2500 block of 10th Street complained at 3:36 a.m. that a male who used to date her roommate was texting her now and she wanted it to stop. Police told him to stop.
- Damage to a screen on a door in the 2300 block of 14th Avenue was reported at 3:49 a.m.
- A parent in the 500 block of 21st Street reported a 5-year-old missing at 4:32 a.m. after waking up to discover the child gone. The child was located in the neighborhood.
- A group of young children was warned after they were reported at 7:37 a.m. for setting a fire in a residential Dumpster in the 1900 block of 13th Avenue. There was no fire when officers arrived but they could smell gasoline in the Dumpster.
- Police responded to a neighbor's complaint at 7:58 a.m. of two mattresses left on a terrace in the 2400 block of 12th Street without the proper stickers.
- A property owner in the 1300 block of 16th Avenue was warned after police responded to a complaint of junk left in the ally behind the building.
- Child abuse was reported at 8:59 a.m. in the 900 block of 19th Avenue. The case remains under investigation.
- A friendly German shepherd-type dog was reported found at 10:19 a.m. in the 2900 block of 2nd Street North. The Green County Humane Society was contacted to come get the dog.
- A cat got a free ride to Monroe Clinic, 515 22nd Ave., after hopping up inside the undercarriage of an employee's vehicle. The employee realized the cat was under his car when he heard meowing. Police were called to the Clinic parking lot at 12:07 p.m. Arrangements were made for another employee to take the cat.
- An officer on patrol at 21st Street and 8th Avenue at 1:17 p.m. saw a cement truck with its chute down accidentally drop wet concrete on the street. The streets department was called in to clean up the concrete. The company could be billed for damages.
- A complaint at 1:45 p.m. about the conditions of a residential roof in the 2500 block of 9th Avenue was referred to the city building inspector.
- An anonymous caller at 2:24 p.m. complained about tires piled up in a residential yard in the 1300 block of 16th Avenue.
- Harassing text messages between ex-roommates was reported at 2:40 p.m. in the 700 block of 12th Avenue. An officer who looked over the messages told the complainant they didn't look harassing or threatening.
- A 911 caller reported at 2:55 p.m. that a calf jumped out from the back of a pickup truck in traffic at Wisconsin 69 and 21st Street. The owner came back to get the calf. It was uninjured.
- A tenant in the 1000 block of 4th Avenue West complained at 4:02 p.m. about a downstairs neighbor who continually plays video games too loud. The downstairs neighbor was warned. The complainant was advised to talk to the landlord.
- A temporary restraining order violation was reported at 5:41 p.m. in the 2600 block of 8th Street.
- A husband reported at 6:50 p.m. that his wife received a suspicious phone call from someone claiming to be a federal agent. The "agent" told her she would be under arrest unless she paid a fine. Police called the number, and someone with a foreign accent answered, said "Don't call here again" and hung up.
- Harassing texts between two men, an employer and his employee, was reported at 7:43 p.m. in the 1300 block of 9th Street.
- A friendly black Labrador-type dog was reported found at 7:57 p.m. in the 2700 block of 22nd Avenue. Police took the dog to the after-hours dropoff room at the Green County Humane Society.
On Thursday, Aug. 15:
- Police were called to the 700 block of 12th Avenue at 8:24 a.m. for a report of dogs barking. The source of the barking was traced to a residence with the windows open. The owner was at work but told police he'd go home and close the windows.
- A property owner in the 200 block of 3rd Avenue was warned after police responded to a complaint of two vehicles parked on grass in the yard.
- Police responded to a complaint at 11:03 a.m. of a woman making an illegal fire in the 3000 block of 10th Street. She was burning documents in an open garbage can, which is not an approved fire container. The fire was extinguished.
- A tenant in an apartment complex in the 1600 block of 11th Street called police at 1:01 p.m. because a couple in a neighboring apartment were having a loud domestic dispute. Police found no evidence that the dispute was physical.
- People moving out of a residence in the 700 block of 16th Avenue were reported at 2:50 p.m. for allegedly leaving their dog behind. Police located no dogs in the area.
- Musicial equipment, including a guitar, was reported stolen from a trailer home in the 500 block of West 21st Street at 3:08 p.m. Police are investigating leads.
- An ongoing dispute over annoying calls and texts between family members was reported at 4:55 p.m. in the 1100 block of 16th Avenue. This is the third complaint in less than two weeks.
- A cat found in the 1300 block of 16th Avenue was taken to the Humane Society at 4:48 p.m., but police were not contacted beforehand. Per city ordinance, residents must first report a stray animal to police.
- Police were called at 6:52 p.m. to the 1100 block of 16th Avenue for allegations of harassment. One group of people complained about another group of people harassing and threatening them on Facebook. Police advised the complainants to unfriend the offenders.
