Plea, sentencing hearings scheduled for Minn. teens

MONROE - Plea and sentencing hearings have been scheduled for Sept. 16 for four people charged with cashing stolen checks in Monroe and New Glarus.

Courtney R. Kennedy, 18, Edina, Minn.; Morgan K. Azbill, 18, Minneapolis, Minn.; and Kassie M. McMahon, 17, West St. Paul, Minn., stood mute in Green County Circuit Court Wednesday to charges of forgery and concealing stolen property. The court entered pleas of not guilty on their behalf. Carson A. Caizzo, 18, Edina, Minn., pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Court records allege they cashed stolen checks at Kwik Trip, Dick's Piggly Wiggly and Wal-Mart in Monroe and also at the Swiss Aire Motel in New Glarus June 21.

Kennedy and McMahon had stolen checks and an iPod in their vehicle when they were taken into custody in Monroe. Caizzo and Azbill had marijuana in their possession when they were taken into custody in New Glarus.

McMahon and Kennedy are charged with four counts of forgery, all class H felonies, and concealing stolen property, a class A misdemeanor. They face more than 24 years in prison and up to $50,000 in fines, if convicted.

They remain free on a $4,000 signature bond.

Caizzo and Azbill are charged with two counts of forgery, both class H felonies, two counts of concealing stolen property, both class A misdemeanors and possession of marijuana, an unclassified misdemeanor. They face up to 14 years in prison and more than $40,000 in fines, if convicted.

They remain free on a $2,500 signature bond.
