Phoebe H. Brandenburg, age 77 of Monroe died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at her home.

Phoebe was born January 12, 1934 in Monroe, the daughter of Ben and Marion (St. John) Abraham.

She was a 1952 graduate of Monroe High School where she was a majorette, taught baton, and gave swim lessons.

Phoebe attended U.W. Whitewater and studied music at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J.

She married Delivyn M. Brandenburg on September 5, 1953 in Pine City, MN. Phoebe and Del co-owned and operated Brandenburg Plumbing and Heating in Monroe for many years.She also owned Phoebe's Realty in Wausau, WI.

She was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church, enjoyed creating soft sculptured dolls, sewing, gardening, canning, writing, and genealogy. Phoebe's main love in life was her family and friends, but she also had a fondness for animals especially her dogs, Sassy and Dolly.

She is survived by her husband and best friend of 58 years, Del Brandenburg of Monroe; eight children, Laura (David) Young of Mt. Pleasant, TX, David (Mary) Brandenburg of Wausau, WI, Ann Brandenburg (fiance Harry Sokel) of Dunbar, WI, Rebecca (Steven) Pink of Monroe, Kathryn (Jon) Brandenburg-Neff of Gratiot, John (Lisa) Brandenburg of Mosinee, WI, Michael Brandenburg of Monroe, and Daniel (Cindy) Brandenburg of Wausau; 25 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and her cousin, Harold (Jeanette) Grindey of Orangeville, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 7, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at the Monroe United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Booth officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Staver St. Peter United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe.
