Peter "Swiss Pete" Tschannen, 75 of Monroe, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017 at his home. He was born on August 2, 1942 in Thun, Switzerland, the son of Alfred and Erika (Frutiger) Tschannen. Peter was united in marriage to Sherrie Sue Legler on August 8, 1987 in Monroe.
Peter farmed for several years; he also worked for Swiss Colony and local construction companies until his retirement. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Sherrie of Monroe; daughter, Corie Tschannen of Browntown; grandchildren, Ayannah, Autticah, and Addyson; his twin brother, Martin (Margrit) Tschannen of Thun, Switzerland; and two nephews, Marco and Reto, also of Switzerland. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Peter's Life will be held from 1:00-4:00pm on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Jail House Tap in Monroe. A private family burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery. Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family.
