Paul Rood
Paul Rood, age 98 of South Wayne, WI, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe, WI. He was born November 4, 1910 in Wiota Township in Lafayette County, the son of Minick and Aurora (Jensen) Rood. Paul graduated from Argyle High School in 1930 and continued his education in Agricultural Short Course in Madison, WI. He was united in marriage to Inez Johnson on November 29, 1934 at Apple Grove Lutheran Church. In 2004 they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Paul lived and farmed in Wiota Township until retiring into Wiota in 1970.

Paul is survived by three sons: Ronald (Patricia) Rood of Beloit, WI, Lee (Patty) Rood of Lamont, WI, Quentin (Mavis) Rood of South Wayne, WI; three daughters: Donna (Russell) Johnson of Monroe, WI, VaLois (Bill) DuBois-Young of Beaufort, SC, Sharon (Richard) Yaun of Oregon, WI; one brother: Robert Rood of South Wayne, WI; two sisters: Wanda Rood of Monroe Manor, Monroe, WI, Valborg Erdahl of Sun Prairie, WI; 17 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Inez on March 25, 2005; two brothers: John and Royal Rood; one sister: Minerva Rood; and one granddaughter: Kim Yaun.

Paul was a life long member of Wiota Lutheran Church and its church council. He was a past president of Stuart Cheese Factory and Cherry Branch School Board, a honorary member of Wiota Fire Department, and a member of the John Deere Club. He was an avid bowler for many years and enjoyed gardening and dancing.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 16, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Wiota Lutheran Church in Wiota, WI with Rev. Sara Gillespie officiating. Burial will be at East Wiota Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2008 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Wiota Lutheran Church. Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family.
