Oscar "Ole" L. Hanson

Oscar "Ole" L. Hanson, age 77 of Monroe, died Saturday, March 7, 2015. He was born on December 13, 1937 in Dodgeville; the son of Oscar and Mabel (Peterson) Hanson. He graduated from Monroe High School. Oscar served in the National Guard and was called up during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Ole married Sharon Altman in September of 1961 in Monroe; he later married Joy (Wild) Johnson on December 21, 1991 in New Glarus. Ole worked in retail sales his whole life. He opened and managed the Farm and Fleet in Watertown for over 20 years. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, a member of New Glarus American Legion., he enjoyed bowling, golfing, and following Wisconsin sports, from High School thru professional, both Men's and Women's. He was meticulous doing home improvement projects and landscaping. He took great pride in helping his loved ones' dreams come true.

He is survived by his wife, Joy of Monroe; two children: Traci (Joseph) Raether of Verona and Craig Hanson of North Conway, NH; 5 step children: Jamie (Jean) Johnson of Hudson, WI, Dan (Shelly) Johnson of Marshfield, Randy (Teri) Johnson of Lawson, MO, Mike (Linda) Johnson of Roy, WA, and Robert (Lyn) Johnson of Inver Grove Heights, MN; 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved sister, Doris Hanson, and 2 brothers: George and Kermit.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, March 12, 2015 at St. John's United Church of Christ, with Rev. Todd Hackman officiating. Burial will be in Yellowstone Cemetery. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home, Monroe, 1455 Mansion Dr.
