MONROE - There will be no garbage or recycling collection on Monday, Dec. 26 due to the Christmas holiday. Garbage and recyclables normally collected on Monday will be picked up on Tuesday, Dec. 27. Items need to be at the curb by 7 a.m.
The City of Monroe will also recycle wrapping paper. To recyle wrapping paper, remove ribbons and bows and flatten and fold wrapping paper. Place them in a blue bag - do not ball up and place in cardboard boxes. Cardboard should be flattened and tied in bundles.
The Street Department will pick Christmas trees up until Tuesday, Jan. 31 at no cost. Beginning Wednesday, Feb. 1, Christmas trees will require a $2 yard waste sticker before they can be picked up. More information is available by calling the Streets and Sanitation Department at (608) 329-2490.
