BRODHEAD - Norma Lou Armitage, age 80, of Brodhead, formerly of Albany, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2012 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Monroe, WI. She was born on September 24, 1931 in Rosemont, IL, the daughter of Paul and Garland (Sprague) Smith. She married Robert V. Armitage on March 14, 1950 in St. Louis, MO. He passed away on January 7, 1994.

Norma had lived in Albany before moving to Brodhead in 1989. She had worked for Harvard Corp., Evansville, WI, Oaktron and Swiss Colony, both of Monroe, WI. She loved yard work and gardening and especially being with her family.

She is survived by her children; Gary (Brenda) Armitage, Albany, Robert Armitage, Pine Bluff, AR, Harland (Debbie) Armitage, Monroe, Kevin (Debbie) Armitage, Castle Rock, CO, Thomas (Kristine) Armitage, Brodhead, Vicki (David) Jasmin, Olive Branch, MS, Karlyn (John) Brinkmeier, Belleville, Karen (Richard) Askew, Memphis, TN, Lisa Armitage, Victoria, MS; a brother, Robert "Bud" Smith, Willets, CA; twenty-five grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Donna Hunt, two brothers, Kenny and Frank Smith, two grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Leila Skibbie.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, April 13, 2012, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI, with Cal Schaver officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead.
