Myra C. Fox age 93 of Monroe, died Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Azura Memory Care in Monroe. Myra was born August 12, 1921 in Calamine, WI, the daughter of Michael and Anna (McDonald) Fox. She graduated from Platteville High School in 1938 and earned a B.A. degree in Education from U.W. Platteville. Myra entered the U.S. Navy in 1943, was stationed in San Francisco, and attained the rank of Jr. Lieutenant while working in communications. Following her honorable discharge in 1946, Myra earned a Masters degree in Education from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. She was employed as an advertising specialist at the Million Market Newspaper in Chicago until retiring in 1986. Following a very serious car accident in 2007, Myra came to Monroe to be near her family. She was an active member of St. Mary and St. Nicholas Catholic Churches of Evanston, IL, enjoyed offering her time while volunteering at a Chicago hospice, loved playing cards and golfing (which she did into her 80's), and had wonderful memories of traveling the world with her sister, Margaret.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Fox; and sisters, Margaret Fox, Anna Josephine Richardson, and Agnes Fernandez.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Father Larry Bakke officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery, Truman, WI. A memorial fund will be established in Myra's name. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
