Maynard L. Gilbertson, age 73 of Monroe, died on Friday, October 9, 2015 at his home. He was born on January 13, 1942, the son of Julian and Margaret Gilbertson. He graduated from Monroe High School. He served 3 years in the U. S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division as an ammo specialist and paratrooper. Maynard married Donna Wilde on October 17, 1964 at Peace Church in Browntown. He worked at Don's Standard and Dearth Motors, and retiring after 30 years from Chrysler Motors in Belvidere.

In his younger years Maynard had a passion for restoring cars, with his friend Stan Stocker; along with many hunting and fishing trips. After he retired he and his wife, Donna, went on several trips around the world. He loved to travel and see different parts of the country. Maynard liked to take care of his "grandpups", but his biggest joy was his wife and family.

He is survived by his wife Donna, of 51 years; daughters: Lori (Tony) Frenzel of Baraboo and Linda (Mark) McArdle of Monroe; a special grandson, Tory Frenzel of Baraboo; step-granddaughter,Tonia Frenzel, step-great-granddaughter, Myah, both of Baraboo; step-grandson, Ashly Frenzel, step-great-grandson, Austin, both of Madison; a brother, Dale Stauffacher of Monroe; plus several nephews, nieces and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Joyce Bahn.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, October 15, 2015 at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home, with Pastor John Tabaka officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, with military rites accorded. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. at the funeral home.

Maynard's laughter and wit will always be remembered.

A memorial fund is being established in Maynard's memory.
