Mavis Lynn Hexom, age 92, of Monroe, died on Friday, September 17, 2010 at her home she was born June 6th 1918 in Adams Township, Green County Wisconsin. The daughter of Thomas and Mabel (Hanson) Lynn, she grew up in the Argyle area. Mavis was a confirmed member at the Lutheran church, attended the Dry Goods Box rural school and graduated with the class of 1931.

On February 15th 1940, she was united in marriage to Clifford Hexom at the church parsonage. They shared 58 years together before he passed away on May 23rd, 1998. They lived and farmed in the Argyle area and were members of the Argyle Lutheran Church, moving to Monroe in 1959. Mavis worked at the Dorman and Pre-Pack cheese plants, was an active member of St. John's church, a homemaker, an avid reader, and enjoyed long walks and trips with her families.

Mavis is survived by three children, Sharon (Dr. David) Riese (Monroe), Linda (William) Boyle (Fitchburg, MA), Dale J. Hexom (Cheryl) (LaCrosse), six grandchildren, Laurie (Jim) Augsburg (Elburn, IL), Scott Gunville (Kim) (Raynham, MA), David B. Riese (Carol) (Monroe), Brian L. Riese (McFarland), Braden J. Hexom, M.D. (Claudia) (New York, NY), Lacie Hexom (Dallas, TX), ten great-grandchildren, and a brother Maynard Lynn (Monroe).

Preceding her in death were her father in 1959, mother in 1963, brothers Norman in 1983 and two in infancy, two sisters Ada Vinger in 1995, and Alice Rundle in 1997.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 20, 2010 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Dr. and 18th Ave with Rev. Gretchen Sylvester officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Memorials may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ or Monroe Clinic Hospice.
