Martha Anice (Cook) Tonn

SUN PRAIRIE - Martha Anice (Cook) Tonn, age 93 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 21, 2012 at the Sun Prairie Health Care Center. She was born on June 30, 1918, to Oscar and Alethea (Opie) Cook in Gratiot Township, WI. In 1942, Martha graduated from the Milwaukee Teacher's College (now known as UW-Milwaukee) and began her 34 year teaching career in Scottville, MI where she would meet the love of her life, Donald Tonn. Don and Martha were married on April 9, 1950 and shared 52 years together before Don passed away in 2002. After Don's passing, Martha moved from Wildwood, FL to Sun Prairie to be closer to her family. In the 10 years she resided at the Colonial Club, Martha continued her passion for volunteer work, becoming the "go to" person for many activities and events at the Colonial Club. She will forever be remembered for her compassion, strength of spirit, selfless heart and devotion to her family. Martha is survived by her daughter, Janet (Allen) Klug; granddaughters, Kelly (Matthew) Faust and Kelsey (Ryan) Odorizzi; great grandson, Greyson Faust; sister, Mary Margaret Low and brother, Oscar (Carrie) Cook. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Tonn; parents, Oscar and Alethea Cook; brother, Opie Cook and a sister Alethea Morie. A Memorial Service will be held at The Colonial Club, 301 Blankenheim Lane, Sun Prairie, on Sunday, April 29 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Martha's name to The Colonial Club. Martha's family would like to thank Sun Prairie Health Care Center for their compassionate and attentive care during Martha's final days.
