Marie Mensik, formerly of Pomeroy, Washington, passed away on January 28, 2014 at the age of 88. Marie Emma Leemman was born on September 22, 1925 in New York, New York and maintained a New York accent all her life. She married Fred Mensik, a salesman for Regal Textile on February 8, 1948 and moved to Dallas Texas, where their children, Marie and Fred were born. After a quick move to Cleveland, Ohio, where their third child, Robert, was born, they settled in Park Ridge, Illinois. Marie was a housewife and Fred became the Regional Sales Manager for Regal Textile. After retirement, they moved to Monroe, Wisconsin. Fred became the first Commissioner on Aging for Green County and Marie worked part time with the elderly, helping with transportation. Marie came to Pomeroy in November, 2011 for health issues, living with her son, Fred and his wife, Rosanna, moving to Clarkston when her health deteriorated. While in Pomeroy, Marie attended the Christian Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband Fred, daughter Marie and son Robert. She leaves behind one son Fred, four grandchildren Michael, Heidi, Quintina and Wolfram and two great-grandchildren Brycen and his sister to be born in May.
