Marie L. (Ott) Rinehart, age 103, of New Glarus, formerly of Monroe, died Thursday, November 23, 2017 at the New Glarus Home. Marie was born on October 28, 1914 in Postville, WI, the daughter of Anton and Mary (Schmoker) Ott. Marie attended Postville rural school and New Glarus public school. She married Hazen Isely in 1934 and he preceded her in death in 1946. Marie and Ketchel S. Rinehart were married on June 16, 1948 and he died on July 6, 2004. Marie was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, The American Legion Post #84 Auxiliary, and the Royal Neighbors of America. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening, and fishing.
She is survived by two sons, Nathan H. (Pat) Isely of Madison, and Sheldon A. (Judy) Isely of Eldridge, Iowa; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Russell Rinehart in 1966; five brothers; one sister; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at 12:00 p.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Rev. Kathleen Rinear officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. John's Church or the American Legion Auxiliary. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
