Marian Rose Foulker, 84, Monroe, died May 13, 2011 at her home. She was born February 27, 1927 in Monroe, the daughter of Elmer and Hulda (Haney) Foulker. She grew up in the Browntown area and graduated from Monroe High school in 1944.
Marian worked at the ration board in Monroe during the following year and then attended the Milwaukee County Hospital School of Nursing, earning her RN in 1947. She worked at hospitals in Milwaukee, Denver, CO and Monroe. While at St. Clare Hospital in Monroe, she was head nurse in the nursery for many years. She often formed friendships with parents who had babies and kept in touch until the children themselves married and started families.
Marian was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. She enjoyed knitting and embroidery, reading, growing flowers on her sun porch, and interacting with friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Hulda Foulker, serving as caretaker for her mother who died in 2001 at the age of 98.
Marian is survived by her sister, Ruth Pintar, Monroe; nieces Mary Koenig, Monroe; Elisa (Dave) DeBoer, St. Louis and Kathryn (Howard) Silvestre, Milwaukee and nephew Steve Pintar, Madison; also much loved grand-nephews Brian and Jon Koenig and Jack Wandfluh, Monroe; Joe DeBoer, St. Louis; grand-niece Minda Silvestre, Milwaukee; and lifelong close friend Colleen Hasler, Monroe.
As Marian wished, there will be no visitation. A private family Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family.
