Marian R. Sacker, age 90 of Monroe, died on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at the Monroe Manor where she was a longtime resident.
Marian was born July 1, 1919 in Monroe Township, the daughter of William and Columbina (Aebly) Kubly. She attended Dolan rural school in Monroe Township. Marian and Ralph W. Sacker were married on February 14, 1942 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Monroe.
The couple farmed on the Sacker home farm until moving to Monroe in 1981. Marian worked at Wheel of Swiss Cheese Store for several years.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and the Sewing Ladies, Monroe Moose Lodge #754, Balls Mills Homemakers, Green County Forestry Center, and the Richland Watershed and 4-H.
Marian dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed quilting, cooking, gardening, playing cards, and raising poultry.
She is survived by four children, Joyce (Ronald) Anderson, Mary Ann (Michael) Krebs, Alvin (Deanna) Sacker, and James (Susan) Sacker, all of Monroe; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, Leona Kubly, Helen Kubly, both of Monroe, and Jean (Mel) Friske, Hayward, WI.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, on August 16, 1982; two grandsons, Steven Krebs and Chad Sacker; two brothers, Ray W. and Walter H. Kubly; and two sisters, Edna Kern and Ruth Kubly in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2009, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Monroe. Rev. Gretchen Sylvester will officiate with interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Marian's name to St. John's United Church of Christ.
