MONROE - Marian L. Sery, age 88, died Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on January 28, 1920, in Monroe, the daughter of William and Scelina (Boss) Trukenbrod. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1938 and University of Wisconsin in 1942. Marian married Jack Sery on October 24, 1944 in Monroe. She worked for the University of Chicago Library.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Sery of Monroe; 2 sons, James (Zada) Sery of Oklahoma City, OK and William (Jillaine) Sery of Phoenix, AZ; 3 grandchildren, Ariane Sery of Phoenix, AZ, Zada Ann (Wesley) Ferris of Jefferson City, MO and James (Stacy) Sery Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK; one great-grandchild, Emma Grace Sery; a sister-in-law, Marcia (James) Crawford of Monroe; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Karl Trukenbrod; and a sister, Lucille Klooster.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, with Reverend Gretchen Sylvester officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
A visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Marian's name to the Monroe Arts Center.
