Marian B. Baumgartner, age 74, of Monroe, died Saturday, August 30, 2008. She was born on September 3, 1933 in rural Monroe; the daughter of William and Lena (Thoman) Bidlingmaier. She graduated from Monticello High School. Marian married Herbert Baumgartner on October, 12, 1957 in Monticello. Marian worked with her husband in the family milk trucking business. She belonged to St. John's United Church of Christ and the American Legion Auxiliary, Zilmer-Riley post 84, where she served as the chairperson for the Monroe poppy days for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Herb of Monroe; 3 children: Kay (Steve) Fiene of Madison, Keith (Juli) Baumgartner of Madison and Kris (Loyd Smith) Baumgartner of New Glarus; 2 grandchildren: Alissa and Ryan Baumgartner; 2 brothers: Sylvan Bidlingmaier of Monticello, Nathan Bidlingmaier of Monroe; 4 sisters: Evelyn Moritz of Monticello, Dorothy (Dallas) Wild of Monroe, Shirley Anderson of Monroe and Jean (Daryl) Kleckner of Madison; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Merlyn in infancy and a sister, Lorene Durtschi.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2008 at St. John's United Church of Christ, with Reverend Gretchen Sylvester officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. A visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, 1455 Mansion Dr. and 18th Avenue, Monroe. Memorials may be given in Marian's name to St. John's United Church of Christ or American Legion Auxiliary.
