Margaret Ella "Sally" Davis Pohl died peacefully, surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 following a brief illness at the White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas.

She was born October 19, 1937, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Elmer and Johnye Kathleen Davis, the seventh of their eight children. From birth, she was called Sally and this name, coupled with her red hair, fit her feisty personality.

Sally married Raymond Arthur Pohl on January 28, 1977. They spent their married life living in Albany, Wisconsin and Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas. She was an organized person with a desire to serve and spent most of her life working in municipal government in both these towns. After her retirement, she continued to serve by volunteering as treasurer for the Friends of the Library.

She was very active in the Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Horseshoe Bend. She served as their treasurer for many years and volunteered her skills as a talented quilter for their quilting guild. Sally was also quite active in the Country Quilters' Quilt Guild and was recently elected their president. She leaves behind many beautiful projects for us to cherish.

Family was very important to her and she spent a lot of time researching her ancestors. She had traced her family tree back quite far and was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution - the Strawberry River Chapter; having previously served as their regent.

She leaves behind one brother, Charles Davis in Corpus Christi, Texas; one brother-in-law, Ronald Mabie in Albany, Wisconsin; many nieces and nephews; five stepchildren and their families; and many wonderful friends.

Her husband, Raymond Pohl; her parents; four sisters and two brothers predeceased her.

Sally was truly our "grand-matriarch" and to know her was to love her. She will be greatly missed.

Services will be Monday, May 3, at the Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Horseshoe Bend. Visiting hours from 9:30-11 a.m. with memorial services to follow. Burial to be at a later date.
