Man arrested for two hit-and-runs

MONROE - An Illinois man was arrested for two hit-and-run accidents and drunk driving early Sunday morning.

Kirk C. Burns, 41, Kildeer, Ill., was arrested for a third-offense of operating while intoxicated at 3 a.m. Sunday.

Burns hit a legally-parked vehicle owned by Yahara Materials Inc. in the 1600 block of 11th Street, causing minor damage to both vehicles. Burns left the scene. When Burns attempted to turn eastbound onto 7th Street from 17th Avenue, he lost control of his vehicle. He hit a stop sign and the side of a house prior to leaving the scene. No injuries were reported. There was minor damage to the house.

Burns was charged with hit-and-run to an unattended vehicle, hit-and-run to property adjacent to a highway, open intoxicants, operating a vehicle with prohibited alcohol concentration and failure to maintain control over a vehicle. He was released.
