Lucille D. Miller, age 91 of Darlington, WI, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2008 at the Lafayette County Manor in Darlington. She was born November 4, 1916 on her family farm in Wiota Township, WI, the daughter of Oscar and Mary (Erickson) Jacobson. Lucille graduated from Darlington High School in 1935. She was united in marriage to John "Jack" Miller on October 28, 1937 in Dubuque, IA. Lucille worked at Micro Switch in Warren, IL, from 1953 to 1957. She was a legal secretary for Attorney Boyle in Darlington. Lucille worked as a line worker at Dorman's Cheese Packaging Company from 1958 to 1978 when she retired. She lived and farmed with her husband in Calamine and Lamont Township until 1977, when she moved to Wiota Township.
Lucille is survived by two daughters: Joan Hoeper of Warren, IL, Ellen Cox of Wiota, WI; one daughter-in-law: Haila Miller of Wiota, WI: one sister: Mary Gille of Lafayette County Manor, Darlington: seven grandchildren: Suzette Weckerly, Will (Lori) Hoeper, Michael (Angela) Hoeper, Tom (Joy) Ward, Jim (Marge) Miller, Dennis (Lisa) Miller, Lisa (Nick) Rueter; fifteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: John in 1977; one son: David Miller in 1998; one son-in-law: Vernon Hoeper in 2000; one grandson: Timothy Hoeper in 1986; four brothers: Morgan Jacobson, Floyd Jacobson, Carl Jacobson, Sylvester Jacobson; and three sisters: Edna Kammrud, Stella Wilson, Luella Conelly.
Lucille was a member of Lamont United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women, she was a past secretary of its Church Council and on the Sunshine Committee. She was a member of the South Lamont Homemakers. Lucille was a piano player for the Alpha chapter number 114 of Argyle, WI, she learned to play the piano by ear. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and painting landscapes. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
Services for Lucille will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at the Lamont United Methodist Church in Lamont, WI, with Rev. Craig Conklin officiating. Burial will be at Miller Cemetery in Wiota. A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2008 from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington with Eastern Star Services at 7 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com
