Loretta Maureen Wilhelmson

Loretta Maureen Wilhelmson, age 78, of Argyle, WI, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at Lafayette Manor in Darlington, WI, surrounded by her family. She was born October 26, 1935 the eighth of nine children born to James and Mary Ann (O'Brien) Holland on their family farm in Kendall Township, WI. Loretta graduated from Darlington High School in 1953. She was united in marriage to Donald B. Wilhelmson on February 14, 1955 in Mineral Point, WI. Loretta and her husband farmed with their sons on the Whiteside Dairy Farms in Wiota Township until 1997, when they retired to the Village of Argyle. She worked at the Green County Sheriff's Department, retiring in 2003. Loretta was well known as a hard worker and loving mother.

Loretta is survived by four children: Teena Hernandez, New Glarus, WI, LuAnn (Jon) Erickson, rural Blanchardville, WI, Jeff Wilhelmson and Kent Wilhelmson both of Argyle, WI; six grandchildren: Daniel (Katie Uhalt) Hernandez, Leif (Megan) Erickson, Jesse (Lindsay) Erickson, Brooke Wilhelmson, Brittany (Chuck) Meoska, and Emily Wilhelmson; four great-grandchildren: Reese and Porter Olson, Alexis Vezakis-Erickson, and Samuel Erickson; two sisters: Eileen Pickett of Darlington and Vera Finley of Oregon, WI; brothers and sisters-in-law: Joan (Jack) Finley of Waukesha, WI, Paul (Glenda) Finley of Wiota, WI, David (Judy) Wilhelmson of Monroe, WI, Marjorie Finley of Rockford, IL, and Eileen Wilhelmson of Darlington; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on March 29, 2013; five sisters and one brother: Eleanor Bartig, Mary Gille, Lorraine Holland, Joseph Holland, Roseanna Van Matre, and Mildred Schewe; brothers-in-law: Robert Bartig, Paul Gille, Merle Pickett, Ken Schewe, Robert Finley, Walter Wilhelmson, Robert Wilhelmson, Bill Finley, Donald Van Matre, and Mick Tesch; one sister-in-law: Mary Tesch; and three nephews: David Schewe, Michael Finley, and Patrick Gille.

Loretta was a member of Apple Grove Lutheran Church in rural Argyle, the Argyle American Legion Auxiliary #251, and Wiota Women's Auxiliary. She was also a member of Argyle Red Hatters. Loretta enjoyed playing cards, loved having fun, spending time with her family and friends, and especially was proud of her Irish Heritage.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 27, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Apple Grove Lutheran Church, 14501 Apple Grove Church Road in rural Argyle with Rev. Daniel L. Bohlman officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in rural Argyle. A visitation will be held Sunday, January 26, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home, 801 East Milwaukee Street in Argyle.
