Brodhead Police

On Oct. 16:

● 10:10 p.m., Police responded to the 900 block of W.Exchange St. for the report of Disorderly Conduct; a subject causing a disturbance. Contact was made and a warning was issued.

On Oct. 17:

● 12:52 p.m., Police responded to the 500 block of 1st Center Ave. for a Code Violation; a vehicle in violation of the City’s junk vehicle ordinance. This matter is pending compliance with the ordinance. 

● 1:03 p.m., Police responded to the 900 block of E 2nd Ave. for a Code Violation; a vehicle in violation of the City’s junk vehicle ordinance. This matter is pending compliance with the ordinance. 

On Oct 19:

● 8:29 a.m., Police responded to the 1100 block of 11th St for the report of an Animal Problem; dog at large. Officers located dog and returned it home. 

● 1:06 p.m., Police responded to the 300 block of 2nd St for the report of Fraud; fraudulent charges on credit card Complainant wanted a case pulled for documentation purposes. 

● 4:04 p.m., Police responded to the 1200 block of 16th St for the report of an Animal Problem; dog at large. Dog was returned home and a verbal warning was issued. 

On Oct. 20:

● 8:43 a.m., a Brodhead juvenile was cited in the 2500 block of W 5th Ave for Truancy. 

● 10:17 a.m., a Brodhead juvenile was cited in the 2500 block of W 5th Ave for Truancy. 

● 11:29 a.m., Police responded to the 2400 block of 1st Center Ave for the report of Theft; subject did not pay for items. Contact with individual was made and they advised they would return to pay. 


Lafayette County Sheriff

On Sept 17:

● 1:39 a.m. Shane M Freiburger, 18, Mineral Point was cited for Absolute Sobriety, Excessive Window Tint and Unreasonable and Imprudent Speed on Mound Avenue Rd, Belmont Township. 

● 6:50 a.m. A deputy responded to S Splinter St, Benton Township for a check welfare. 

● 9:12 a.m. A deputy responded to STH 81, Darlington Township for a traffic complaint of an erratic driver. 

● 12:46 p.m. Deputies responded to CTH D, Fayette Township for a two vehicle accident.  Edward J Joestgen, 70, Mineral Point was traveling northbound on CTH D when he slowed down to turn onto Bond Rd. While turning Joestgen struck the southbound vehicle driven by Jason M Schmidt, 45, Darlington.  Joestgen’s 2019 Ford and Schmidt’s 2014 Chevrolet both received severe damage and were towed from the scene.  Four passengers were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Darlington Fire Department, Mineral Point EMS, Argyle EMS and Darlington Police Department assisted on scene.  The accident remains under investigation. 

● 2:26 p.m. Benton Fire Department and Benton First Response responded to CTH J, Village of Benton for a garage fire. Wisconsin State Patrol and the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office assisted on scene.

● 3:34 p.m. A deputy responded to STH 78, Blanchard Township for a 911 misdial.  

● 3:47 p.m.  A deputy responded to Ames Rd, Darlington Township for a suspicious activity complaint.  Darlington Police Department assisted on scene. 

● 4:16 p.m. Deputies responded to STH 81, Darlington Township for a criminal damage to property complaint. 

● 6:06 p.m. Deputies responded to Gratiot St, Village of Gratiot for a trespassing complaint. 

● 7:00 p.m. Marco T Salinas-Soto, 22, Darlington was cited for Speeding and Operating without a License on W Platteville Av, Village of Belmont. 

● 10:15 p.m. A deputy responded to Lake Rd, Fayette Township for a noise complaint.

On Sept. 18:

● 12:09 a.m. A deputy responded to W Mound View Av, Village of Belmont to assist the Belmont Police Department with a check welfare. 

● 7:10 a.m. A deputy responded to E Harriet St, City of Darlington to assist the Darlington Police Department with a check welfare. 

● 9:04 a.m. Deputies responded to Ames Rd, Darlington Township for a check welfare.  As a result, Traci R Bahena, 53, Darlington was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Law Enforcement, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Battery to Law Enforcement.  Bahena was transported to the Lafayette County Jail where she remains in custody. 

● 11:30 a.m. Rufina Arguelles-Santiago, 46, Darlington was cited for Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign on Main St, City of Darlington.

● 11:35 a.m. A deputy responded to CTH F, Darlington Township for livestock on the roadway. 

● 11:59 a.m. A deputy responded to CTH E, Shullsburg Township to assist the Cross Plains Police Department. 

● 12:30 p.m. A deputy responded to 2nd St, Village of Benton to assist with a vehicle unlock,

● 1:08 p.m. A deputy responded to CTH W, New Diggings Township for a traffic hazard. 

● 1:54 p.m. A deputy responded to CTH M, Wiota Township for an animal injured on the roadway.

● 3:41 p.m. Shullsburg EMS responded to STH 11, Shullsburg Township for a medical emergency. 

On Sept 19:

● 1:16 a.m. A deputy responded to USH 151, Belmont Township for citizen assist.

● 2:02 a.m. A deputy responded to Cub Hollow RD, Darlington Township for a one vehicle accident. 

● 7:01 a.m. A deputy responded to Second RD, Willow Springs Township for check welfare.

● 7:39 a.m. Deputies responded to STH 81 in the City of Darlington to assist with an alarm.

● 8:16 a.m. A deputy responded to CTH F, Seymour Township for a hit and run.

● 10:12 a.m. Shullsburg EMS responded to Heller CT in the City for a medical emergency.

● 12:42 p.m. A deputy responded to STH 11 in the Village of South Wayne for a gas drive off.

● 1:54 p.m. A deputy responded to Gun Club RD in the City of Darlington to assist with traffic control.

● 2:08 p.m. Deputies responded to Washington ST in the City of Darlington to assist with suspicious activity.

● 3:40 p.m. A deputy responded to E Truth ST in the City of Shullsburg for a citizen assist.

● 3:56 p.m. A deputy responded to Picanax ST in the City of Shullsburg for a civil dispute.

● 5:23 p.m. Angel A Martinez-Perez, 43, Darlington was arrested on Lafayette County warrants in Iowa County. Martinez-Perez was transported to the Lafayette County Jail where he remains in custody.

● 6:50 p.m. A deputy responded to STH 11, Shullsburg Township for an animal problem.

● 8:38 p.m. A deputy responded to STH 23, Darlington Township for a disabled vehicle.

● 9:06 p.m. Karen S Womack, 45, Belmont reported striking a deer on USH 151, Belmont Township. No injuries were reported and Womack’s 2012 Chevrolet received severe damage and was towed from the scene.

● 9:48 p.m. Belmont EMS responded to Walnut ST in the Village for a medical emergency. Belmont Police assisted on scene.

On Sept. 20

● 3:58 p.m.Deputies responded to USH 151, Belmont Township for a traffic complaint.

● 4:12 p.m. A deputy responded to CTH U, Shullsburg Township for a report of suspicious activity.

● 5:24 p.m. A deputy responded to Buncombe RD, Benton Township for a report of suspicious activity.

● 5:31 p.m. A deputy responded to CTH W, Benton Township for an animal problem.

● 7:07 p.m. Shullsburg EMS responded to Heller CT in the City for a lift assist.

On Sept. 21

● 12:37 a.m. Wayne H. Kappelman, 62, Dubuque, IA, was cited for Speeding and Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign on Pleasant View LN, Belmont Township.

● 1:06 a.m. A deputy responded to Mitchell Hollow RD, Belmont Township, for livestock on the roadway.

● 10:14 a.m. A deputy responded to Sheldon ST in the Village of Gratiot for found property.

● 10:32 a.m. A deputy responded to S Park ST in the Village of Belmont for a parking problem.

● 11:59 a.m. Lafayette County EMS responded to Ohio ST in the City of Darlington for a medical emergency. Darlington Police Department and deputies assisted on scene.

● 2:01 PM A deputy responded to CTH G, Willow Springs Township, for a harassment complaint.

● 5:22 p.m. A deputy responded to CTH F, Blanchard Township, for criminal damage to property.

● 5:36 p.m. A deputy responded to Hirsbrunner RD, Willow Springs Township, for a vehicle unlock.

● 5:45 p.m. A deputy responded to CTH G, Willow Springs Township, for suspicious activity. 

● 5:54 p.m. Argyle EMS and Wiota First Response responded to STH 78, Wiota Township, for a medical emergency.

● 7:43 p.m. A deputy responded to S Warren ST in the Village of South Wayne for a noise complaint.

On Sept. 22

● 7:38 a.m. A deputy responded to USH 151, Belmont Township, for a vehicle in the ditch. Belmont Fire Department and Belmont EMS assisted on scene.

● 2:43 a.m. Shullsburg EMS responded to E Water ST in the City of Shullsburg for a medical emergency. Shullsburg Police Department assisted on scene.

● 3:23 p.m. A deputy responded to STH 81, Argyle Township, for an injured animal in the roadway.

● 4:19 p.m. Shullsburg EMS responded to W Estey ST in the City of Shullsburg for a medical emergency. 

● 4:22 p.m. A deputy responded to E Liberty ST in the Village of Belmont for a theft complaint. 

● 7:33 p.m. Quincy R. Thompson, 27, Shullsburg, was arrested in Dane County on a valid Lafayette County warrant. Custody of Thompson was transferred to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, and Thompson was transported to the Lafayette County Jail where he remains in custody.

● 8:09 p.m. Shullsburg EMS responded to STH 11 in the City of Shullsburg for a medical emergency.

● 10:17 p.m. A deputy and Lafayette County EMS assisted Darlington Police Department with a traffic stop on Pelco DR in the City of Darlington. 

● 11:06 p.m. Lafayette County EMS responded to Fayette RD in the City of Darlington for a medical emergency.

On Sept 23:

● 4:08 a.m. Mason J Hughes, 19, Mineral Point was cited for Possession of Open Intoxicants and his passenger, Wyat L Bredeson, 19, Darlington was cited for Underage Drinking.

● 6:16 a.m. Theresa L Hammer, 59, Darlington reported striking a deer on CTH K, Gratiot Township. No injuries were reported and Hammer’s 2016 Nissan received moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

● 6:53 a.m. A deputy responded to Second RD, Willow Springs Township for a check welfare.

● 8:09 a.m. A deputy responded to Furnace Hill RD, Willow Springs Township for a complaint of theft.

● 8:22 a.m. A deputy responded to Mill ST in the Village of Argyle for a hit and run.

● 10:48 a.m. A deputy responded to Bethel Grove RD, Belmont Township for a report of suspicious activity.

● 1:03 p.m. A deputy responded to Salty Hollow RD, Gratiot Township for a report of suspicious activity.

● 4:32 p.m. A deputy responded to CTH Z, Kendall Township to assist with a check welfare.

● 5:11 p.m. A deputy responded to STH 11, Shullsburg Township for an injured animal.

● 5:53 p.m. Lafayette County EMS responded to High View DR in the City for a medical emergency. Darlington Police assisted.
