Green County Sheriff

On July 18:

● At approximately 9:30 AM, Deputies responded to the intersection of State Highway 11 and Short Ln, Town of Sylvester, for a report of a vehicle vs ATV accident with injuries. Investigations found that Blake J Drafall, 15, of New Glarus, was attempting to cross State Highway 11 when he struck a vehicle operated by Robert W Green, 61, of Brodhead. Drafall was wearing proper safety equipment and sustained injuries. Drafall was transported by private party for further medical care. Green and his passenger reported no injuries, reported wearing their seatbelts, and no airbag deployment. Both vehicles sustained disabling damages and were removed from the scene. Drafall was cited for failure to yield the right of way. Juda First Response assisted on scene.

● At approximately 5:53 PM, Deputies responded to the W4600 block of Burkhalter Rd, Town of Sylvester for a report of a two vehicle accident. Investigations found that Matthew J Coulthard, 17, of Monroe, was eastbound on Burkhalter Rd when he crested the hill. Coulthard took evasive action to avoid colliding with several individuals performing sealcoating. Coulthard struck a piece of equipment. Coulthard reported wearing his seatbelt, reported no injuries, and there was airbag deployment. Coulthard’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

On July 19:

● At 11:33 am, Deputies responded to the area of Golf Course Road at Cottage Road in Decatur Township for a motor vehicle crash with no injuries reported.  Investigation found that Thomas F. Gempeler, 56 of Monroe, was backing a Green County Highway Department truck attempting to create a larger work zone near the intersection where they were laying down seal coat.  He was backing up the Highway Department to get farther away from the paving unit that was coming towards him.  The vehicle behind him was operated by Kourtney Pipenger, 27, of Orfordville, Wisconsin, and was not able to back up further due to another unknown vehicle behind her.  The highway department backed into the front of Kourtney’s vehicle causing moderate front end damage.  There was no airbag deployment in either vehicle and both vehicles were driven from the scene.  Both subjects reported wearing seatbelts.  The highway department vehicle sustained minor damage.

● At 6:01 pm, Deputies stopped Keenan T Parker Needham, M/B 19, of Middleton, was stopped and cited for speeding, Operating after Revocation 2nd offense, and Possession of 25g or Less of THC on STH 59 near Oliver road in Albany Township.  A valid driver drove from the scene. 

On July 20:

● At approximately 9:11 AM, Deputies responded to the N7400 block of Dougherty Creek Rd., Town of York, for a report of a one vehicle crash.  Investigation determined the operator, Myles D. Stietz, 17 of Blanchardville, was driving south on Postville Rd. when he lost control on the gravel covered roadway. The vehicle collided with a bridge guardrail and then entered the west ditch, coming to a rest partially in a creek. Myles was not injured and reported wearing his seatbelt. There was airbag deployment in the vehicle and it was towed from the scene due to disabling damage. No citations were issued in this case. 

● At approximately 12:02 AM, Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the W3500 block of State Highway 11 ,Town of Sylvester.  Investigation resulted in the operator, Priest G.G. Williams, 48 of Janesville, being cited for Operating After Revocation due to alcohol and Failure to Install an Ignition Interlock Device. Priest was given a mandatory future court date.  

On July 21:

● At 5:43 PM Deputies conducted a traffic stop for speeding in the N3500 block of State Hwy 69, Town of Monroe.  Investigation into the stop resulted in the driver Meylin Talavera-Rodriguez 34, of Monroe being cited for Operating Without a Valid License (2nd Offense within 3 Year).   Talavera-Rodriguez was released pending court.  

● At 7:23 PM Deputies conducted a traffic stop for speeding in the N5700 block of State Hwy 69, Town of Washington.  Investigation into the stop resulted n the driver Ivan Gonzalez 34, of Madison being cited for Operating after Revocation.  Gonzalez was released pending court. 

● At 10:01 Deputies responded to a traffic complaint of a vehicle operating all over the roadway in the W2600 block of State Hwy 11, Town of Jefferson.  Deputies located the vehicle travelling speeding and operating left of the center line.   The vehicle was subsequently stopped and the driver was identified as Todd S. Patterson 45, of Brodhead.  The investigation resulted in Patterson being arrested for Operating While Intoxicated – 4th Offense.  Patterson was cited for Speeding, Operating Left of Center and Open Intoxicants in a Motor Vehicle.  Patterson was conveyed to Green County Jail where he is held pending court.  

On July 22:

● At approximately 12:51 a.m., Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the W5200 block of State Highway 11, in the Town of Monroe for speeding. Investigation resulted in the driver, Brandon L. King 46, of Indianapolis IN being arrested for OWI 1st (with passengers under 16 years old). Brandon was further cited for speeding 72 MPH in a 55 MPH zone, and possess open intoxicants in a motor vehicle. Brandon was jailed at the Green County Jail pending the posting of bond or an initial court appearance. 

● At approximately 1:06 AM, Deputies, the Belleville Police Department and the Monticello Police Department responded to the New Glarus Woods State Park, W5446 CTH NN, for a report of an ongoing argument between a male and a female.  Investigation resulted in the female, Tara M. Nowaczyk, 32 of Milwaukee, being arrested for three counts of Bail Jumping and Disorderly Conduct falling under the Wisconsin Domestic Abuse laws. Tara was jailed pending posting of her bond or her initial court appearance.  Further investigation resulted in the male, Nicholas K. Stuckart, 32 of Milwaukee, being arrested for an outstanding warrant. Nicholas was transported to jail where he was booked and then released by direction of the agency who issued the warrant. Nicholas was released with a future court date.

On July 23:

● At approximately 5:33 PM, Deputies responded to the N2300 block of County Highway S, Town of Jefferson, for a report of a car vs. motorcycle crash.  Investigation determined that the operator of the car, Elizabeth A. Lovett, 42 of Monroe, backed into a legally parked motorcycle in a parking lot. There were no injuries and nobody was injured. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.  

● At approximately 1:13 AM, Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lane in the W4900 block of State Highway 11, Town of Monroe. Investigation resulted in the operator, Alberto Rodriguez-Hernandez, 31 of South Wayne, being arrested for Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol – 2nd Offense. Alberto was also cited for Driving on the Wrong Side of a Divided Highway, Operating While revoked due to Alcohol, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance. Alberto was transported to the Green County Jail pending a release to a responsible party. 

On July 27:

● At 7:01 AM, Deputies were notified of a vehicle driving through a field in the N3600 block of County Highway F, Town of Decatur. Deputies located the vehicle and identified the driver as Sergio R Ochoa, 49, of Janesville. Ochoa was cited for operate without a valid license (2nd offense within three years). Ochoa was released with a court date.

● On 2:28AM at approximately 2:28 AM, Deputies responded to the W9600 block of County Highway MM, Town of Cadiz, for a report of a single vehicle rollover accident.Investigations found the driver, Billy J Paige, 57, of South Wayne, was eastbound on County Highway MM when a deer was observed in the roadway. Paige took evasive action and entered the North ditch where his vehicle overturned.Paige reported no injuries, reported wearing his seatbelt, and no airbag deployment. Paige’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.


Monroe Police Dept.

On July 22:

● At 2:00 a.m., officers arrested Jacob E. Johnson, 27, Brodhead, following a traffic offense stop at 21st Street and 6th Av. Johnson was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated-1st offense, and also cited for operating while suspended and open intoxicants in a motor vehicle. Johnson was released to a responsible person pending a court appearance. 

● Officers arrested 

Christopher P. Graves, 48, Monroe at 5:18 p.m. Graves was arrested at a residense in the 600 block of 17th Av., on a warrant issued by the Monroe Police Depts.for failure to appear in court for a domestic abuse case. Graves was confined in the Green County Jail pending further proceedings.

● At 11:56 p.m., officers observed a physical domestic altercation occuring in the 2600 block of 10th Street. An investigation led to the arrest of Erica R. Obrien, 37, Darlington, on a charge of disorderly conduct and battery under Wisconsin’s Domestic Violence laws. Obrien was released after posting cash bail, pending a court appearance. 

On July 23:

● At 12:58 a.m., officers were called to a report of a fight in progress at a business in the 1900 block of 10th Ave. An investigation led to the arrest of Cory L. Rodebaugh, 38, Blanchardville, on a charge of disorderly conduct. Rodebaugh was released after posting cash bail, pending a court appearance.

● At 9:48 p.m., officers arrested Dennis L. Mann, 49, Monroe, following a report of a disturbance in the 800 block of 22nd Avenue. Mann was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, 1st offense. Mann was released to a responsible person pending a court appearance. 


Monticello Police

On July 12:

● At approximately 12:18 p.m., Officers received a parking complaint in the 400 block of W. Coates Avenue.  The vehicles owner was contacted and the vehicle was removed a short time later. 

● At approximately 2:33 p.m., Officers assisted the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department in the 200 block of S. Main Street with attempting to locate the driver of vehicle that had crashed a motor vehicle in Lafayette County and then abandoned the vehicle.  

On July 13:

● At approximately 12:05 p.m., Officers received suspicious activity information and the investigation is ongoing. 

● At approximately 2:42 p.m., Officers located an illegally parked vehicle in the 500 block of N. Pratt Road.  The vehicle was parked in front of a fire hydrant.   A citation for parking less than 15 feet from a fire hydrant was issued to the vehicle.  

On July 14:

● At approximately 9:48 a.m., Officers conducted traffic control on State Hwy 69 at W. Coates Avenue for the Monticello Fire Department who were responding out of the village to assist New Glarus Fire.

On July 15:

● At approximately 2:35 p.m., Officers responded to the 400 block of Aeberhard Drive for a report of suspicious activity.  The area was checked and everything as found to be okay.

● At approximately 5:56 p.m., Officers responded to the 400 block of E. Lake Avenue for a vehicle unlock.  The vehicle was unlocked without incident. 

● At approximately 8:52 p.m., Officers received a report of an abandoned vehicle in the 200 block of N. Main Street.  The vehicles owner was contacted and the vehicle was moved some time later. 

On July 16:

● At approximately 4:02 p.m., Officers received a report of a motor vehicle crash in the 200 block of N. Main Street.  Investigation revealed that a Chevy Blazer was performing a backing maneuver from a parking stall and had backed into a Polaris UTV that was travelling southbound.  No injuries were reported.  Minor damage reported to both units.  

● At approximately 4:17 p.m., Officers were contacted in reference to a dog that was found running loose on State Hwy 69.  The dog’s owner was identified and contacted.  The dog was turned over to its owner. 

● At approximately 9:09 p.m., Officers patrolling located a residence in the 500 block of S. Main Street that was lighting off fireworks.  Contact was made at the residence and the matter was resolved.

● At approximately 9:25 p.m., Officers responded to the 300 block of E. Coates Avenue for illegal fireworks being lit off.  Contact was made with the resident lighting off the fireworks.  As a result, Frank Quinones Hernandez, Monticello was issued a citation for violation of the local fireworks ordinance.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

● At approximately 11:25 p.m., Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of N. Monroe Street for a reported disturbance.  Officers made contact at the residence and found that everything was okay at that time.  

On July 17:

● At approximately 12:57 a.m., Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of N. Main Street for a disturbance between two men.  The investigation is ongoing.

On July 18:

● At approximately 2:10 p.m., Officers responded to the 200 block of E. Lake Avenue for a reported code/ordinance violation.  As a result, Eric B. Carroll, Brodhead was issued a cita

tion for having grass in excess of 8”.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

● At approximately 2:19 p.m., Officers conducted a traffic stop for an observed traffic violation on E. Lake Avenue at S. Madison Street.  As a result of the traffic stop Filemon Patino Perez, Janesville was cited for Speeding in excess of the posted speed limit.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

On July 19:

● At approximately 10:37 a.m., Officers were contacted by a resident in reference to a set of keys being lost.  The keys were possibly lost in the area of the post office. 

On July 20:

● At approximately 12:55 p.m., Officers were contacted by the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department who were investigating a motor vehicle crash that occurred in Lafayette County.  Assistance was provided. 

● At approximately 6:45 p.m., Officers responded to the area of N. Monroe Street and W. North Avenue for a parking complaint.  The matter was resolved a short time later.
