LeRoy "Cookie" Phillips, age 86 of Baldwin, Wisconsin, a long time Monroe resident died Sunday, February 10, 2008 in Baldwin. Cookie as he was known all his life was born May 30, 1921 in McGregor, Iowa, the son of Alvie and Ethel (Randall) Phillips. He married Marian G. Bridge on June 22, 1941. Cookie was a radio operator in army tank corps during World War II training in Fort Knox, KY and serving with the occupation forces in Japan. He was a Mobil agent for the Monroe area for many years, retired from Moore Business Forms at age 65 and the Swiss Colony at age 80.

He was a member of the Monroe American Legion Post #84, Smith Lodge #31 F&M-Palestine Chapter, Eastern Star St. Omar Chapter #90, loved to play golf, and talk with people.

Cookie and his wife of 67 years, Marian, moved to Baldwin, in 2007 and have been residing at 1600 Birchwood Drive, Baldwin, 54002.

Survivors include his wife, Marian Phillips of Baldwin; a son, Kent (Janice) Phillips of Hudson, WI; two granddaughters, Linda K. Janse and Laura J. (Steven) Loppnow; three great-grandchildren, John and Nathan Loppnow, Nicholas Janse all of Hudson; two sisters, Florence Carlson and Dorthy Hinze; and four half-brothers, Eugene, Duane, Robert, and Kenneth Phillips.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Phillips; a sister, Kathryn Hunstad; and a half-brother, Frederick Phillips.

Private graveside services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe with Reverend David Busker officiating.
