Brooklyn/Albany/Belleville - Mr. Leland F. Brewer age 90, passed away on Sunday evening, March 20, 2011 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. He was born January 15, 1921 in Brooklyn, the son of Clyde and Zora (Schwerin) Brewer. On December 16, 1953 he was united in marriage to Virginia Root Beckwith at Evansville. Leland farmed most of his life but his passion was horses. He trained horses for himself and others and raced Standard bred horses through Southern Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa. Leland also enjoyed coon hunting, breeding and raising coon dogs, polka music and was a fantastic dancer.

Survivors include: Bonita (Irv) Klapper of Albany, Jerry (Mari Anne) Beckwith of Evansville, a daughter in law Nancy Beckwith of Brooklyn, a sister Matilene Clemens of Belleville. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren who will miss him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia, sister Melva Carroll, brother Marvin Brewer, sons Robert and James Beckwith and three granddaughters Baily, Lisa, and Cynthia.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Albany Lion's Club, 402 North Cincinnati Street, Albany, WI. Pastor Doug Workman will officiate with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery, Albany. Relatives and friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until time of services on Friday at the Albany Lions Club. A memorial fund has been established in Leland's Memory.
