LaVerne Nipple, age 82 of Argyle, WI, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at New Glarus Home in New Glarus, WI. She was born January 26, 1927 in Louisville, KY, the daughter of Les and Maude (Thomas) Spond. LaVerne was united in marriage to Donald Nipple on November 15, 1946 at First Baptist Church in Louisville, KY. They lived and farmed in the Evansville area until moving to Argyle in 1975. She worked at Rock Haven Nursing Home in Janesville as a CNA and later at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe, WI. LaVerne also enjoyed doing Home Care after her retirement.

LaVerne is survived by five children: Judith Parmer of Argyle, Donna Upton of Sellersburg, IN, Beverly Gertsch of Darlington, Charles (Cindy) Nipple of South Wayne, WI, and Shirley (Lynn) Holzhueter of Waterloo, WI; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one brother: Kenneth (Judy) Spond of Laconia, IN; and one sister: Dorothy Chinnock of Clarksville, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Donald on September 26, 1999; one brother; one sister; and two sons-in-law.

LaVerne was a member of Argyle United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed going to church, going out with the girls and playing cards on Wednesdays. LaVerne loved baking, and also going to the monthly church breakfasts.

Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Argyle United Methodist Church, 200 South Street, Argyle, WI, with Rev. Craig Conklin and Kenneth Spond co-officiating. Burial will be in Orfordville Lutheran Cemetery in Orfordville, WI at a later date. A visitation will be Saturday, July 11, 2009 from 2 p.m. until the time of services at Argyle United Methodist Church. Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family.
