Larry Gene Huebner age 76, of Plover passed away March 23, 2016 at University Hospital in Madison after a sudden brain hemorrhage last Friday night. He was born March 31, 1939 in Hortonville, son of the late Gerald and Evelyn (Jentz) Huebner.

Larry graduated from Hortonville High School in 1957 where he was recently inducted into their Baseball Hall of Fame. He attended the University of Wisconsin on a baseball scholarship and later UW-Oshkosh. The Milwaukee Braves organization signed him to a professional baseball contract in 1958. After pitching for 5 seasons, he went on to become the president of M and I Bank of Plover and later the Portage County Bank.

Larry entered the service on October 1, 1960 and served in the United States Army Reserve. He was honorably discharged on August 5, 1962.

Larry met his wife, the late Laurel (Nelis) Huebner of Green Bay, in 1958 at UW-Oshkosh. They married on December 28, 1960 in Green Bay. The couple moved from Monroe with their four children in 1979 to Plover where they lived until Laurel's death in 2001.

He is survived by his three sons and daughter: Todd (Kris) Huebner of Plover, their children Taylor and Samantha; Paige Ceku (Tori) of Franklin, their children Bennett, Ander, Vance & Reese; Brady (Allison) of Stevens Point, their daughter Lauren; Curt (Kim) of Westerville, Ohio, their children Madison & Cameron.

On May 1, 2004, Larry married Judi (Passer) Huebner, residing in Plover. He became step father to Sheree and Cory Kuechenmeister and step grandfather to Austin, Chandler, Trenten & Kale.

Larry was a loving husband, father and grandfather whose kindness was felt by many. A lifelong sports fan, he was eternally passionate about the Badgers, Brewers and Packers, including attending the famous "Ice Bowl." Locally, he was a longtime supporter of the UWSP Men's Basketball program and an avid golfer... having never said "no" to a round of golf.

Larry is further survived by his brothers Ken (Carla), Wayne (Joyce) and numerous in-laws and nieces & nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Roger.

The family would like to thank all of the compassionate nurses at the University Hospital for their excellent care and guidance.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday March 30, 2016, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 2000 Roosevelt Drive Plover. Pastor Al Moen officiating, burial will follow in the Plover Cemetery. Visitation on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home 2911 Plover Road Plover and again on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
