Lane E. Thompson, age 62 of Darlington, WI passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Janesville, WI after suffering a heart attack while hunting with his buddies. He was born September 28, 1954 in Darlington, WI the son of Eugene and Mickey (Johnson) Thompson. Lane graduated from Darlington High School in 1972. He was united in marriage to Theresa K. Reichling on November 28, 1980 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington. Lane lived in the Darlington area his entire life. He was a carpenter in the Darlington area for over 35 years until 2007 when he began working at Epic Systems where he worked in their Maintenance Department.
Lane is survived by his three children: Tara (Josh) Ula of Blanchardville, WI; Ed (Amy Horsley) Thompson of Darlington, WI, and Mitchell (Karlie Alexander) Thompson of Darlington; his mother: Mickey Thompson at Manor Care in Platteville, WI; four grandchildren: Linden, Lola, Lucy, and Lettie Ula; one sister: Lori (Joe) Leahy; brothers and sisters-in-law: Sherry (Dennis) Crist, Sheila (Bob) Williams, Joseph (Gina) Reichling, Thomas (Kris) Reichling, Patrick (Diane) Reichling, and Edward (Tammy) Reichling, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Lane was preceded in death by his wife: Theresa on February 26, 2005; his father: Eugene Thompson on April 13, 2004; mother-in-law: Donna Reichling on September 29, 1986; and sister-in-law: Jennifer Reichling on December 28, 1990.
Lane was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington and Argyle Rod and Gun Club. Lane was a former Eagle Scout. He enjoyed playing slow pitch for the Spot Tavern for many years, was an avid outdoorsman and spent his free time hunting and shooting. He cherished the time he spent with his family creating memories that will last them a lifetime. Lane will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.
A time of family remembrance will begin at 11:15 A.M. followed by A Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 11:30 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet Street, Darlington) a branch of Our Lady of Fatima Parish with Rev. John Bosco Pudhota officiating. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery. A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church where a rosary will be prayed at 3:30 P.M. A visitation will also be held Wednesday from 10:30 A.M. until 11:15 A.M. at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family.
