Kenneth Rufenacht, age 82 of Monroe, died Saturday, November 29, 2008 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital.
Ken was born April 20, 1926 in Monroe, the son of Walter and Hilda (Drake) Rufenacht. He farmed on the family farm near Browntown for many years and worked for the Green County Highway Dept. for 24 years until retiring. He has resided at Angelus Retirement Community since 2004.
Kenny was an avid Chicago Cubs fan who watched every game he could. He also enjoyed the Jerry Springer show, chocolate donuts, Oreo cookies, Pepsi, and always ordered two eggs sunny side up.
He is survived by six nieces and nephews: Larry, Sheryl, Teri, Jackie, Jimmy, and Kathy; a sister-in-law, Jean Rufenacht of New Glarus; and a brother-in-law, Gerald Kessler of Texas.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Delbert and Donald Rufenacht; and a sister, Marion Kessler.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, with Pastor Margo Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Saucerman Cemetery, Cadiz Township. A visitation will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. A memorial fund will be established in Kenneth's name.
