Kenneth E. Stites, age 80 of Rock Grove, IL, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at his home. Ken was born August 19, 1935 in Freeport, IL, the son of Robert and Elizabeth (Scherer) Stites. He attended Green Valley Grade School in Cadiz Township and graduated from Winslow High School in 1954. Ken and Phyllis Stampfli were married on January 19, 1963 at St. Victor Catholic Church in Monroe. Following their marriage, Ken farmed with his Father in Cadiz Township, farmed on the Edith and Lamont Kloepping farm, and worked for Arnold Gudenkauf. He most recently was employed at Wil Kleen in Freeport. He attended St. Victor Catholic Church and loved spending time with his family. Ken enjoyed bicycling, word search puzzles, computer games, and antique cars and tractors.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Phyllis Stites of Rock Grove; five children, Mark Stites (Mary Donnan) of Wadsworth, IL, Larry (Angie) Stites of Dakota, IL, Brian (Mo) Stites of Browntown, WI, Valerie Poss (Michael Zimmermann) of Dakota, and Teresa (Steve) Strohecker of Freeport; Grandchildren, Allyson, Kyle, Ryan, Joey, Harleigh, Parker, Wren, Hamilton, Oxtin, Aaliyah, Jason, Shawn, and Dylan; great grandchildren, Layla, Zoey, Jackson, and Jaxon; a sister, Joanne Boeck of Monroe; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Lois; granddaughter, Rosina Poss; a sister, Jean (George) Keeney; and a brother-in-law, Frederick Boeck.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2016, at 12:00 p.m., at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church, with Father Michael Klarer, Celebrant. A luncheon will be held in St. Victor's Niles Hall. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, at a later date. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
