Kenneth A. Frei, Sr., age 76 of Monroe, died on Monday, September 28, 2009, at Monroe Clinic Hospital. He was born, August 18, 1933 in Jordan Township, the son of John and Margaret (Jarman) Frei. Kenneth and Vera Westgard were married in July of 1955. Kenneth and Vera farmed while raising their family in the area. He enjoyed playing cards, and playing the slots. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge.

Surviving are his children, Kenneth (Diane) Frei, Jr. of Monroe, Mary Kaiser of Warren, Illinois, Ron (Carolyn Schultz) Frei of Monroe, Don (Samantha Starich) Frei of Argyle; step-son, Robert Westgard of Monroe; sister, Gladys Westgard of Monroe; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Mildred Snyder.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home. Pastor Dennis Perger of Jordan and Our Savior's Lutheran Churches will be officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation will be held on Friday, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
