June Reese Hoff of Grand Junction, Colorado, formerly of Monroe died Sunday, September 13, 2009. She was born in Spring Green, the daughter of Eugene W. Reese and Artie I. Snyder. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1939. A high point in her high school experience was when she was asked to be the Queen of the Prom by Glen E. Hoff Sr., the most popular boy in school. On May 3rd of 1942 she married that same boy who became an officer in the Army Air Corps. The couple remained in the Service until retirement in 1970. June followed Glen with the children across the world, living in Minnesota, Washington, Alabama, Alaska, Georgia, England, New York, California, South Carolina, and finally Texas. They retired to Redding, California where they enjoyed the outdoors for 10 years. Wanderlust overcame them. They sold the house, car and most of everything else, bought a truck and 5th wheel RV and travelled the USA until health problems overcame them. They settled down in Tucson, Arizona where June's radiant personality and sensitive nature affected everyone. She became very active with the Veterans (VA) Hospital by helping cheer up and care for the returning wounded from both Iraq wars. June later moved to Georgia where she became a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary continuing to help our servicemen going and coming from the current struggle. Her final move was to Grand Junction, Colorado where she lived until her passing.
She is survived by two sons, Glen E. Hoff Jr., of Grand Junction, CO., Colonel Larry A. Hoff of Loganville, GA.; a sister, Barbara Reese of Harlingen, TX; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Friends and family of June R. Hoff are cordially invited to join us for a memorial in her honor. It will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2009, at the Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe.
