Julia M. Engebretson, age 100 of Monroe, formerly of Wiota, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on April 28, 1908, the daughter of Minick and Augusta (Foslin) Johnson. She attended the Falls City School in Dunn County. Julia and Willis Engebretson were married on January 26, 1927, in Freeport, IL. She was a member of the Wiota Lutheran Church and the Church's WELCA.
Surviving are her sons: Duane Engebretson, of Bella Vista, AK, Larry (Carol) Engebretson, of Beloit, Ronald (Barbara) Engebretson, of Lancaster, Gene (Sherry) Engebretson of Albany; daughter-in-law, Nancy Engebretson of Converse, TX; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Willis; son, Robert; grandson; daughter-in-law, Katherine; five brothers and four sisters. Julia was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the Wiota Lutheran Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Sara Gillespie, with burial in the West Wiota Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Wiota Lutheran Church.
