BRODHEAD - Joyce M. Conway, age 80, died Monday, July 5, 2010 at Woods Crossing. She was born on March 2, 1930 in rural Juda; the daughter of Raymond and Caroline Schroeder. She graduated from Brodhead High School in 1948. Joyce married Donald Conway on June 17, 1950 in Brodhead. Joyce worked as a manager for the bakery department at Sentry for many years. Joyce enjoyed many hobbies: sewing, quilting, cooking, gardening, knitting and crocheting. She participated in league bowling for many years and attended several national tournaments around the country with her bowling friends. Joyce was blessed with a strong spiritual faith and was active in the Brodhead Congregational United Church of Christ all of her life. She taught Sunday school for more than 30 years, coordinated funeral luncheons for close to 40 years, was a member of the friendship Circle, and participated in various committees through the years. She volunteered as a teacher's aide at Albrecht Elementary School for a number of years and there are many dozens of children and young adults who came to love her through her work at the church and the school. Her greatest joys in life were her grandsons and granddaughters and her great granddaughters. She loved to care for them, was a strong influence on their lives, and was so proud of all of them.

She is survived by her 3 children: Michael Conway, Donita Strommen and Tim (Deb) Conway, all of Brodhead; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Carol (George) McIntyre of Monona, Mary Johnson of Monroe, and Marie (George) Stenke of Monroe; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a daughter, Wendy Conway.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Congregational United Church of Christ, with Rev.Tiff Bates and Rev. Kerri Parker officiating. Burial will be in greenwood cemetery, Brodhead. A visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service, at the church. Everson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
