Jon R. Schilt, age 52 of Monroe, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Jon was born in Monroe on April 3, 1958, the fourth child of five for Robert and Joan (Andrews) Schilt.

Jon grew up in Monroe, where he competed in the state wrestling and cross country finals before graduating in 1976. He attended UW Madison where he continued his passion for wrestling. Jon married Tamara Jean Boston on August 15, 1980 in Monroe. He farmed in partnership with his brother, Ron until 1989 and has worked at Monroe Truck Equipment for the past twenty-two years.

In 1989 Jon and his family relocated to Sauk Prairie. In Sauk Jon coached wrestling from 1989-2004, winning the hearts of many athletes and families. He also met long time friend, Wayne Bruno, who shared Jon's passion for teaching and wrestling. When he wasn't hoarse from cheering or teaching "the clutch", Jon enjoyed time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Tammy Schilt of Monroe; a son, Jason (Erica) Schilt of Pardeeville, WI; a daughter, Cory Schilt (Jack Sieburg) both of Chicago; his mother, Joan (Delton) Davis; two brothers, Tom Schilt and Ron (Loni) Schilt; two sisters, Deb (Pat) Davis, and Patti (Tom) Stauffacher, all of Monroe; step-brothers, Phillip (Lynn) Davis of McConnell, IL, Patrick (Deb) Davis of Monroe; step-sisters, Jill (Keith) Zimmerman of Cross Plains, Ann (Donald) Smith of Florida; his mother-in-law, Jean Boston, all of Monroe; sister-in-laws, Barbara Boston of Brookfield, WI and Jamie Boston of Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in 1978; and father-in-law, James T. Boston in 2008.

A visitation for Jon Schilt will be held at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, on Sunday, March 13, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with a prayer service to be held at 3:00 p.m. with Father Gary Krahenbuhl officiating.
