John Evangelist Walsh, age 87, of Monroe, died on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. He was born on December 27,1927 in New York, NY; the son of Thomas and Ann (Cunney) Walsh.

John attended Power Memorial High School and Iona College.

John was a World War II Era Veteran, serving in the U.S. Infantry in Trieste, Italy, 1946 - 1948

John and Dorothy Schubis were married on November 17, 1956 in Auburndale, NY.

John was a writer: he was an author of two dozen books of Literary Biography and History and Editor at Prentice-Hall, Simon and Schuster, and Reader's Digest in New York.

He was born and raised in the Roman Catholic Church.

John is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Monroe; John Walsh of Washington DC; Timothy (Barbara) Walsh of Madison, WI; Ann Amanda Walsh of Belmont, MA; sister, Patricia Kelly of Limerick, Ireland; and 3 grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his Parents; son, Matthew Walsh, Houston, TX; brother, Thomas Walsh, of New York, NY; brother, William Walsh, of Columbia, SC; and sister, Bernice, of New York, NY.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 27, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church, with Fr. Larry Bakke as Celebrant.

Visitation will be Friday, March 27th from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the Church.
