Jerry Kendall Erickson, age 66 of Blanchardville died on Monday, January 7, 2013 at the UW Hospital in Madison after an 8-year battle with cancer. He was born on September 25, 1946 in York township, Green county, Wisconsin to Milton & Gladys (Venden) Erickson. He grew up on the family farm, working in the fields and the barn with his parents and siblings. He went to the Blanchardville grade and high school, graduating in 1964. Following graduating from high school he started his farming career right away, working with his father and brothers on the family farm, and later purchasing the farm. He was married on December 29, 1979 at York Memorial Lutheran Church to Patricia (Allhands) Burch, and gained a son, Matthew. He continued working on and managing the family farm up until the time of his death. He was a life-long member of York Memorial Lutheran Church in rural Blanchardville where he was baptized, confirmed and married. He enjoyed working hard and playing hard. In years past Jerry and Pat enjoyed going dancing and following Country 4.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Pat Erickson of Blanchardville, one son, Matthew (Karen) Burch of Madison; two grandchildren, Charlie and Alli Burch of Madison; nine brothers and sisters, Marcia (Delbert) Peterson of Barneveld, Gloria Treuthardt of Monroe, Stanley (Carol) Erickson of Blanchardville, Shirley (Dale) Barth of Monroe, Rae (Earl) Boeshaar of Atlanta, GA, Frank "Pete" (Connie) Erickson of Darlington, Terry (Karen) Erickson of New Glarus, Linda (Dale) Bernhardt of Platteville, and Wendy (Ray) Spellman of Darlington; and one sister-in-law, Mary Erickson of Argyle. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Dwayne and Milton "Junior" Erickson; and a brother-in-law, Bob Treuthardt.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 10:00 AM until noon at the York Memorial Lutheran Church in rural Blanchardville at the intersection of highways 78 and 39. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 PM at the church. Rev. Mark Gruner of the Pecatonica Lutheran Parish will officiate. A funeral lunch will follow the service at the church. A private family burial will be after lunch. The Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville is assisting the family.
