Jeraldine R. Gordee age 86, a long time Monroe music teacher, died peacefully at her home in Monroe surrounded by her family on Thursday, March 5, 2015. Jeraldine was born on June 5, 1928 in South Wayne, the daughter of Jay William and Ida Ruth (Jones) Chapman. She graduated from South Wayne High School in 1946 and the U.W. School of Music in 1950. She married James R. Gordee on June 25, 1950 in South Wayne. Following her marriage, Jeri taught in Evansville for one year and lived in Milwaukee for four years before moving to Monroe in 1955. She was an accomplished pianist and vocalist who taught piano for many years while raising her children. She taught music to Monroe Elementary students for 28 years before retiring in 1993. She was a faithful member of Union Presbyterian Church in Monroe and enjoyed sharing her musical talents with her church family as a member of the choir (28 years) and as choir director (22 years). She sang for many weddings, funerals, and other special occasions throughout the years. Jeri had a passion for skiing at various locations in the Rocky Mountains, Europe, but especially loved Aspen during the Christmas season. She was a member of the Madison Ski Club and Monroe Woman's Club. She deeply loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jim Gordee of Monroe; a daughter, Jo Ellen (David) Mosher of Monroe; a son, Robert (Kirsten) Gordee of Waukesha; five grandchildren, Teresa (Kyle) Keehn, Scott (Katie) Mosher, Amy (Mike) McGarry, Adam Gordee, and John Dobson; Great grandchildren, William, Brady, and Julia Keehn, Alivia and Henry Mosher, and Emerson McGarry; and two sisters, Carol Jean Rudd of Neenah, and Betty Lou (Duane) Teuscher of The Woodlands, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at 11:00 A.M., at the Union Presbyterian Church, Monroe, with Rev. Jesse Larson officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Jeraldine's name. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
