Janice J. Reichling, age 77 of Darlington, WI, passed away Monday, April 19, 2010, at Lafayette Manor in Darlington. She was born December 5, 1932 in New Richmond, WI, the daughter of Oscar and Hildegard (Young) Magneson. Janice lived in the Gratiot and Darlington area all of her life. She graduated from Darlington High School in 1950. Janice worked as a check-out at Dick's Supermarket for three years before working in the Repair Department at Borg Instrument in Darlington for 14 years. In 1983, she worked as a baker in the kitchen at Lafayette Manor for 14 years and later in the kitchen at Shullsburg Home in Shullsburg, WI.
Janice is survived by seven children: Susan (Russ) Elzen and Luanne (Donald) Whitford, both of Darlington, Patricia Reichling of Madison, WI, Karen (Richard) Anderson of West Bend, WI, F. John (Ann) Reichling of Darlington, Stacey (Stephen) Seffrood of Gratiot, Jim (Mary Ann) Reichling of Darlington; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister: Marietta Larson of Gratiot. She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter: Katherine Ann Reichling in infancy; and one sister: Audrey Larson.
Janice was a past member of the Darlington United Methodist Church, its United Methodist Women, church choir, and past Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed being a Den Mother for both Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. Janice was also a past member of Blanche's Café Bowling team and Darlington Country Club. She looked forward to watching her family compete in all of their various activities. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2010 at Wiota Lutheran Church, 6682 State Highway 78, South Wayne, WI, with Rev. Luke S. Smetters officiating. Burial will be in West Wiota Cemetery in rural Gratiot, WI. A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington.
