James L. Thompson, age 64, of Albany, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at UW Hospital in Madison. He was born on May 10, 1951 in Monroe and graduated from Albany High School in 1969 and attended MATC in Madison.
James served in the Army National Guard for 6 years.
James and Penny Swanson were married on May 19, 1973 in Orfordville, Wisconsin.
He was a local truck driver and retired from Roadway Trucking Company. James enjoyed bowling, fishing, bow hunting and loved the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Penny Thompson of Albany, mother, Lela (Bob) Sweeney of Sparta, WI; son, Jason (fiancée Deanna Klosterman) Thompson of Davis, IL; half - brother, Phillip (Donna) Sweeney of Tomah, WI and Jeff Sweeney of Sparta, WI; half - sister, Debra (Robert) Child of Sparta, WI, Valerie (Robert) Border of Bettendorf, IA, Sherry (Tim) Williams of Warren, IL, and a grandson, Aaron Klosterman.
He is predeceased by his grandmother, Mabel Thompson.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 20th, at Albany Methodist Church from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Brad Mather officiating. Burial will be in Norwegian Cemetery, rural Albany.
