James (Jim) Leroy Atkinson

James (Jim) Leroy Atkinson, 62, of Richland Center, died Sunday, June 28, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a hard fought battle with Prostate cancer. He was the ninth child born to Dale and Lousie (Schulz) Atkinson on September 11, 1952 in Monroe, WI and was raised on the family farm in Albany, WI. Jim graduated from Albany High School in 1970. After high school Jim attended UW Madison where he graduated with an Associate's degree. Jim married Genevieve Moret on October 6, 1984 in Evansville, WI. Together they had two children Jason and Ryan. Jim spent the majority of his career as President of Kaul Tonics Inc. At the time of his death Jim was a Realtor at Majestic Mountain Reality and co-owner of Cedar Mountain Builders. Jim was a progressive thinker; he loved building and improving houses and tinkering with his cars. His adventurous spirit lead to his love of flying airplanes, scuba diving, cycling, and traveling in an RV with his family to many different destinations. He also took up coaching basketball and soccer for his children. Jim had a big heart and gave more than he received.

Jim is survived by his wife Genevieve Atkinson, of Richland Center, WI; his children: Jason Atkinson, of Madison, WI, Ryan Atkinson, of Madison, WI; his siblings: Albert (Phyllis) Atkinson of Brodhead, WI, William (Holly) Atkinson, of Albany, WI, Edward (Diana) Atkinson, of Verona, WI, Robert (Judy) Atkinson, of Janesville, WI, Dale Jr. (Mary) Atkinson, of Duck Creek, UT, Minnie Atkinson, of San Diego, CA, Ruth Ann (Glen) Day, of Brodhead, WI, Kristin Stone (Fred Mohns), of Madison, WI; Brother in laws: Guy (Dawn) Moret of Sun Prairie, WI, Stephan Moret, of Chicago, IL, Francois (Jennifer) Moret, of Chicago IL; Sister in law: MJ (Basel) Tarabein, of Chicago, IL, Mother in law: Antoinette Dumas, of Richland Center, WI; Father in law: John Moret, of Richland Center, WI; 20 nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents and a nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Pratt Memorial Chapel 120 N Park Street, Richland Center, WI 53581. Monsignor Scheckel will officiate. Friends may call at the Pratt Memorial Chapel on Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 1:00 PM until the service time at 3:00 PM. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family.
