James H. Flanagan III, age 69, of Monroe, died on Saturday, July 3, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Janesville. Jim was born in Monroe, on January 27, 1941, to James H. and Alma (Keegan) Flanagan. He graduated with the Monroe Class of "59.

Jim and Christi (Mary Christine) Boss were united in Marriage at St. Victor Catholic Church, Monroe, on November 11, 1967. They farmed in Adams Township for a number of years and then moved to Monroe. Jim worked for AMPI as a fieldman and plant manager and then drove semi for A & H trucking of Footville.

Jim is survived by his wife Christi, their five children, James IV, Steve Flanagan, and Wendy Holmes of Monroe, Amy Maag of Fennimore and Bethany Flanagan of Argyle. He is further survived by his mother, Alma Flanagan of Monroe, sisters, Judy (Ron) Perkins of Janesville, Shirley (Joe) Drye of Browntown and Beatrice (Paul Paulson) Epping of Ventura CA, brother Roger (Maria) Flanagan of Pensacola, FL, and sister-in-laws, Linda Flanagan of Darlington, Kelli Boss of Monroe and brother-in-law, Michael Boss of Minneapolis, MN. He was undoubtly the best Grandpa in the world to Justin and Eric Holmes, Ashley, Amber and Angie Maag and Tristin and Sadie Jo Flanagan. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and an aunt, Helen Flanagan of Mineral Point.

He was predeceased by his father, James; sister, Kathleen in infancy; brother, Patrick in 2005 and his mother-in-law, Jo Boss.

Jim was an avid horseman, fisherman, camper and Euchre player. He was a member of St. Victor Catholic Church, The Blackhawk Saddle Club, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 754 and past member of LaFayette County Mounted Patrol. He loved life and lived it to the fullest.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Victor Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Fr. David Flanagan, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, and on Thursday, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Church.
