Dr. James E. Kelly, age 84, of Monroe, WI, passed into eternal life, surrounded by his beloved family, on August 10, 2010. Devoted husband of 59 years to Lucille (nee Busch) Kelly. Loving father of his eight children: James Jr. of Verona, WI; Mary Eileen (John) Andreasen of Omaha, NE; Ann (David) McHugh, of Winnetka, IL; Peter (Christine) of Monroe, WI; Patrick (Vanessa), of Arlington, VA; Kevin (Kimberly) of Sun Prairie, WI; Megan (Aaron) Filipi of Omaha, NE; and his late son Brian, who preceded his father into life everlasting in 1978. Proud grandfather of 24 grandchildren. Born in Detroit, MI, in 1926, attended the U.S. Naval Academy, University of Detroit, and St. Louis University Medical School, Dr. Kelly was a stalwart Catholic physician who was deeply committed to the practice of medicine as a healing profession that must always strive to preserve the gift of life. Dr. Kelly was a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and attained the rank of Commander in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps. A specialist in oncology and internal medicine with over 35 years in private medical practice, in addition to years of tireless service at the Henry Ford Hospital (Detroit, MI), Corona Naval Hospital (Corona, CA), McLaren, Hurley, and St. Joseph Hospitals (Flint, MI), and the Monroe Clinic (Monroe, WI).

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Victor's Catholic Church, 1760 14th Street, Monroe, WI at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 13, Rev. Michael Klarer, celebrant. Visitation will be at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, 1455 Mansion Drive, Monroe, WI on Thursday, August 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary following. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Monroe, WI. Memorials in Dr. Kelly's name may be made to St. Victor's Catholic School, Monroe, WI or HospiceCare of Madison, WI.
