Jacquelyn Jean Mills-Weir, age 59, of Monroe died in God's hands with her family by her side following a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Monroe Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Jackie was born March 1, 1952 in Racine, WI, the daughter of Freeman and Alice Jean (Flanigan) Mills. She graduated from Monroe High School, Beloit College with a B.A. degree in Art and Fabric, and received a Masters degree in Art from the University of Iowa. Jackie lived in Flagstaff, AZ for many years where she worked as an Environmental Artist. She also lectured at numerous universities in the United States, Australia, and Ireland. Her passion was her art as she skilled in sculpturing, weaving, painting, and pottery. Her work was featured in several art magazines.
She was a very compassionate woman who enjoyed working with autistic children.
She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Alison Geraldine Weir of Monroe; her parents, Freeman and Alice Mills of Monroe; a brother, Frank (Sandy) Mills of Fort Atkinson; and a sister, Jolene (Scott) Jenny of Monroe.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Sheryl Sue Mills and Helyn Maxine Mills; two brothers, Freeman M. "Pat" Mills and Timothy Michael Mills.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. at the Calvary Cemetery Chapel in Racine, WI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary/Prayer Service at 5:00 p.m. A memorial fund will be established in Jacquelyn's name for Monroe Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
