Ingeborg "Inge" Koch, age 84 of Monroe, died on January 22, 2016 surrounded by the love of her family at her daughter Monica's home in Wilmette, IL. Inge was born in Neuendorf, Germany on March 29, 1931 to Robert and Hertha Koeppen. She was educated in Germany before moving to the U.S. She met her loving husband, Joachim "Hans" Koch in Chicago and they married in 1955. They lived in Chicago until 1966, owning and operating their own bakery. Inge and Hans moved to Monroe, WI when the Swiss Colony offered Hans a position as Konditor (Master Pastry Chef) at their new bakery. Inge made many lifelong friends while working at Marco's Supper Club for 10 years and through her employment (1975 to 2005) as a cook for the Monroe School District. Several years after Hans's death in 1996, Inge moved to St. John's Garden Apartments where she met many new and wonderful friends and reconnected with old ones. She enjoyed her Tuesday night euchre games and watching and occasionally helping the ladies with jigsaw puzzles. Her favorite thing in life was spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she was so proud. Inge was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and the Women of the Moose.

She is survived by her children, Heidi (John) Lacy of Madison, Peter (Diane) Koch of Monroe, and Monica (Brian) Schinderle of Wilmette, IL; her grandchildren, Matthew (Kimberly) and Kyle Lacy, Jacob and Lucas Koch, and Wil, Abby, and Nate Schinderle; great grandchildren, Brynn and Gavin Lacy; a sister, Eva (Heinrich) Böbs; a brother, Robert Koeppen; nieces and nephews all in Germany; and numerous loving friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and three brothers, Joachim, Fritz, and Manfred.

Inge requested there be no services at this time. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, for those who prefer, a memorial fund in her name has been established. Memorials in Inge's name may be sent to 2615 13th Ave., Monroe, WI. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Northshore Hospice for all the wonderful and compassionate care given to our Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma during this very difficult time.
