NEW GLARUS - Inga H. Thompson, age 93, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2009 at Ingleside Nursing Home in Mt. Horeb. She was born on June 12, 1916 to her parents John and Martha (Nyhus) Martinson. Inga graduated from Mt. Horeb High School in 1934. In 1938 she married Donald Steensrud. Later on November 19, 1952 she married Otis G. Thompson at the Lutheran Parsonage in Mt. Horeb. Inga was a homemaker and farmed with her husband Otis in the Town of York for many years in addition to working as a housekeeper in Madison. She was a member of York Memorial Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, and Lydia Circle.

Inga is survived by her children: Doreen Steensrud of Neshkoro, WI, Gary (Linda) Thompson of Blanchardville, WI, and Beverly (Mathew) Meyer of Oregon, WI, six grandchildren: Philip, Travis, Mandi, and Tiffany Thompson, and Dwight and Eva Meyer, and nine great-grandchildren: Jordan, Mason, Alexis, Morgan, Brianna, Hailey, Breckyn, Coleden, Alyssa, and Kendall.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers Abert and Julian.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the York Memorial Lutheran Church, N9407 State Road 78, Blanchardville, WI with the Rev. Mark Gruner officiating with burial in the York Memorial Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 6th Ave., New Glarus, WI.
