PECATONICA — Illinois State Police District 16 Commander, Lieutenant Joseph Blanchette, announced activity and enforcement figures for calendar year 2021. Troopers in District 16, which includes Jo Daviess, Stephenson, Winnebago and Boone Counties, recorded 15,344 incidents during the year.
Enforcement figures totaled 6,348 total citations and 6,351 written warnings, including 2,646 speeding citations, 137 DUI arrests, 675 occupant restraint citations, 264 distracted driving citations, 118 move over (Scott’s Law) citations, 1,554 written warnings for speeding and 314 criminal arrests. Troopers conducted 1,822 Motor Carrier Safety Inspections with 142 drivers and/or vehicles being placed out of service.
District 16 troopers investigated 382 traffic crashes and assisted 1,345 motorists. During the year 3,722 citations were issued for “Fatal Four” violations. These violations are most associated with fatal traffic crashes and include speeding, DUI, failure to wear a seat belt and distracted driving.
