ORFORDVILLE - Harris Leroy Speich, age 72, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at UW Hospital in Madison from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born on August 18, 1937 in Green County, the son of Jacob and Irene (Roderick) Speich.

Harris and Ilene (Lloyd) were married on September 28, 1957 at St. Mary's Church in Janesville.

Harris and his brothers owned and operated Speich Brother's Dairy Farm for many years. After retirement he did part time farm work for friends and neighbors. Harris was an active member of the Orfordville Lutheran Church. He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed his Monday night bowling.

He is survived by his wife, Ilene; sons, Kevin and Tim, of Orfordville, and Daniel (Lorrie), of Janesville; two grandsons, Jason and Braden Speich; two granddaughters, Danyel and Megan Speich; brothers, Kenneth (Mary) and Ted (Donna) of Orfordville; sister, Ellen Schindler of Juda; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, James.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at the Orfordville Lutheran Church, with Pastor Eric Jones officiating.

Burial will be in Orfordville Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, November 2, at the Newcomer-Silverthorn Chapel on the Hill, Hwy 11 and South Coon Island Road, Orfordville.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Orfordville Lutheran Church.
